Ringing in the New Year

Ringing the New Year

We are just 48 hours away from ringing in the brand new year 2014.  All of us are filled with hopes and aspirations that the New Year brings along. As for me, 2014 is the most awaited year in almost 4 years. I will be returning to my country after a long wait of four years. I will be visiting my beautiful village and meet simple and innocent villagers out there. I will be waking up in the 8th happiest country in the world. I will be seeing the smile of happiness on my mother’s face after a real long time. This will be the year I pass out from my college. This year I will be interning at JDWNRH as a pharmacist. This year I will be writing Bhutan Civil service exams. 2014 is a life defining year for me. For the first time in my life I will start to work and earn and stand on my own feet. And I will also get a taste of all things Bhutan after a long Indian or rather Goan sojourn.

I planned to bring in this exciting New Year with few old friends on the beach near my college. Miramer beach has a special place in my heart. It is the first beach I visited in Goa four years ago. It is the beach that I often visit. It is the place where I go with friends to eat pani puri and Arabic Chicken Shawarma. I am not a party buff. I love solitude and tranquility.  So this new year, I would prefer a silent evening on the beach watching the sun set and enjoying the waves. It should be moment of joy to watch thousands of people happily burning fire crackers in the night and celebrating the arrival of one more new year. I have to make the best use of my time here for I have to bid fare well to this mesmerizingly beautiful place very soon. Goa has been a home away from home in true sense.

I join in the spirits of millions of people all around the world to bring in and wish all humanity a happy New Year 2014.  As much as 2014 is an important for me, it must be an important year for millions of people in the world. For this reason I wish 2014 to be a happy year for all in the world. A year filled with joy, prosperity and good health. I pray to almighty that there be no terrorism to humanity and no devastating natural calamities in 2014. For people with hopes and dreams, their dreams are fulfilled and their wishes be granted. For honest and hard working people fighting for the goodness of all, let them get extra courage to fight for the justice of the ‘god’s lesser children-the poor and the down trodden’. For all the nations, let there be no war & every country be filled with happiness.  In the name of humanity, we are all brothers and sisters. You like it or not we are all connected. For this reason, may you too have a wish fulfilling year ahead. Love all. Hate no one this year. Happy New Year 2014
